MyJury ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the MyJury mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: username, email address, and password when you register.
- Profile information: display name and optional avatar image.
- Photographs: images you upload to the platform for jury feedback.
- Verdicts and critiques: scores, actions, and critique tags you submit when judging other photographs.
- Communications: messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: a hashed device identifier used for fraud detection purposes only.
- Usage data: interactions within the app such as submission activity, verdict timing, and session behaviour, used to power the reputation and anti-fraud systems.
- Credit transactions: records of credit purchases and usage within the app.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Apple / Google (in-app purchases): transaction identifiers for credit purchases. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- Google AdMob: if you choose to watch a rewarded advertisement to earn credits, Google may collect advertising-related data subject to Google's own privacy policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To operate the jury feedback, tournament, and Elo ranking systems.
- To calculate and display your reputation score and juror badges.
- To process credit transactions and maintain your credit balance.
- To detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity.
- To send you notifications about your submissions and verdicts (with your permission).
- To respond to your support and contact enquiries.
- To improve the Service based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns.
3. How We Store Your Information
Your data is stored using Supabase, a secure cloud database and storage provider. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest. Uploaded photographs are stored in Supabase Storage with private access controls — your original images are never publicly accessible without authentication.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
Deletion and retention period: You can delete individual submissions or your entire account at any time from the app's Settings screen (see Section 7, "Your Rights"). When you do, the content is immediately hidden from the community and your profile, and is then permanently erased — including the associated images — within 30 days. Any votes (verdicts) you cast are anonymised by removing all identifying links to your account, so they no longer constitute personal data, ensuring historical scoring remains stable. Active (non-deleted) accounts and submissions are retained as described above.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Supabase (database and storage), Google (AdMob advertising and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications), Apple and Google (in-app purchase processing).
- Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
- Business transfers: in the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, with prior notice given to you.
5. Photographs and Content
5.1 Your Content and Licence to MyJury
Photographs you submit remain your intellectual property. By uploading images to MyJury, you confirm that you own the rights to the content or have permission to submit it. You grant MyJury a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display the images within the platform for community review and voting. We do not use your photographs for advertising, training AI models, or any purpose beyond operating the Service — except as described in Section 5.2 below, and only with your explicit, opt-in consent.
Watermarked preview versions of your images are shown to jurors. Your original, full-resolution files are never exposed to other users.
5.2 Promotional Use of Your Images (Optional, Opt-in)
Separately from the licence above, you may choose to allow MyJury to feature your submitted images in marketing materials, social media, website content, and promotional campaigns. This is controlled by the "Promotional Usage" toggle in the app's Settings, under Privacy & Permissions, and reads:
"I allow MyJury to feature my submitted images in marketing materials, social media, website content, and promotional campaigns. You can change this setting at any time."
This setting is off by default. We only use your images for promotional purposes if you have explicitly switched it on, and you may withdraw this consent at any time — future use will stop, though we cannot retract materials already published before you changed the setting.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other regions with similar data protection laws, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent regimes regarding your personal data, including:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion ("Right to be Forgotten"): you can delete individual submissions or your entire account directly from the app's Settings screen at any time. Alternatively, you can submit a deletion request online by emailing us at privacy@myjuryapp.com or info@myjuryapp.com. Once requested, your profile and submissions are hidden immediately and permanently erased from our systems — including stored files and images — within 30 days.
- Portability: request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection / Withdrawing consent: object to certain processing activities, and withdraw optional consents — such as Promotional Usage (Section 5.2) — at any time from Settings.
To exercise any of your data rights (access, correction, portability, or account/data deletion requests), please email us at privacy@myjuryapp.com or info@myjuryapp.com. Account deletion and content updates can also be managed directly within the app.
8. Advertising and Tracking (iOS)
If you choose to watch rewarded advertisements, the app may request permission to use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) on iOS devices in accordance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. This permission is entirely optional — you can earn credits through jury activity without watching ads.
9. Push Notifications
We may send you push notifications about verdict results, submission milestones, and tournament updates. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or within the app's profile screen.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we will notify you within the app.
